A Way of Giving Back

The world is currently in deep sorrow as COVID-19 hits almost every nation. Fear lurks in every home. You see news of an increasing number of deaths and infected people every day. Social media is no longer a fun place to connect with family and friends because people flood it with concerns and frustrations about this problem.
When the government officially warned the nation about this pandemic, many people immediately panicked. And of course, we all know the story on how toilet papers suddenly disappeared in the stores everywhere. There is even a photo that captured an elderly woman staring at empty shelves and later breaking into tears after hoarders took all the food. It is truly heartbreaking.
We now realized that even the most powerful country in the world cannot handle the massive influx of patients. New York City is the hardest hit in the entire United States. The number of dead and infected people has tripled over one week. Over 700 police officers in New Jersey have tested positive of the virus. Medical workers are asking for help due to lack of protective gears. Some front liners are getting sick and dying. No one was prepared for something like this.
My family and I prayed and decided to put our faith into action and thought of ways on how we can be of help to others in this most pressing time. We started to learn how to sew face masks to donate to the medical workers who are in need. Not only does it help us make better use of our time during this social distancing and stay at home order by the government, we know our little way of giving back to our front liners will somehow ease the burden of medical supply shortage. Nothing is more fulfilling than to be a part of a greater purpose. Every face mask could save someone’s life.
No one really knows how long this problem will last, but we encourage everyone to be a part of the solution. We all have responsibilities not only to ourselves but also to other people. It can be sewing face masks, praying for others, calling a friend or simply by staying home. Regardless of this situation, we all have to share something worthy to lift the burden as one nation. Let us support those who are fighting in the frontline for us.
To all the Frontlines, our prayer and gratitude goes to you for your courage, passion and dedication. May God grant you protection, strength and unspeakable joy as you serve the country.
